Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was developed around 1920 by Brazilian brothers Carlos, Oswaldo, Gastão Jr., George and Hélio Gracie, after Carlos Gracie was taught traditional Kodokan Judo by a travelling Japanese judoka, Mitsuyo Maeda, in 1917. Later they were going to develop their own self-defense system named Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

In the video below we watch the Gracie family and their students use their self-defence system against more traditional martial arts such as Kung Fu, Kenpo Karate and Hapkido.
